Defending Human Rights and The Representation of Interests:
- The laws of the Public Transportation Corporation -A government aid program for adapted transportation for handicapped people -Political eligibility of adapted transportation -Regulations of adapted highway vehicles for handicapped people. -Charter of Rights and Freedoms -"To Equal Shares, Lift the Barriers" policy. -Politics of public transport Methods of Consultation The dialogue between different groups representing the interests of handicapped people as well as the collaborations that occur with institutional partners are the most important aspects of RUTA Montreal's mission. The consultation committee for the transportation of handicapped individuals on the island of Montreal, which consists of the Regroupement des organisms de promotion du Montréal Métropolitain (ROPMM) and the Comité regional des associations pour la déficience intellectuelle (CRADI), is comprised of nearly forty organizations working together for the interests of special needs people and the decisions made by the committee are coordinated by RUTA Montreal. This board of members exists to provide a dialogue between different Montreal-based organizations and its mission is to collect and publish information as well as speak out about important issues. Collaborating With the Transportation Administration Due to substantial recommendations made by Montreal-based organizations and knowing the needs of their members, it is within RUTA Montreal's greatest interests to intervene at different levels regarding diverse transportation issues.
